Hello all it is 5 am on a Monday, what’s up?

When you can’t come up with a clever title but wanna be witty so you end up getting in a catch-22

Yup just like the post title says, I am currently writing this at five in the morning, and I just splashed water on my face because no time is too early for all of you. And it has nothing to do with the fact that I was too tired to write this last night…anyway It’s Monday and I am currently reading Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. I’m currently on page 161 of 505 so I have some reading to do this week. It is extremely satirical and an amazing read. The way the deal with the absurdity of war is just amazing. I’m not going to talk about it too much now so I don’t have to repeat myself in the book review, but I will say that so far it’s freaking awesome. My favorite quote so far is

“Fortunately, just when things were blackest, the war broke out.”

I’ve been wanting to read this book for the longest time, and if it wasn’t for this class or book I don’t know if I would have ever gotten around to it so thanks (:. The tipping point for me was when I was struggling to find a book that I was genuinely excited to read and I was watching American dad. Steve subtly mentioned it in one of his jokes (I can’t remember it right now ):) and it was like a lightbulb went off on the top of my head and honestly I’m so happy it did.

This raises a more interesting question, though. Why is it that people sometimes need a push to do things even if it is something we really want to do, sometimes even things we know we need to do. Why don’t we all just do it instead of needing to get to the point where we need something to give up help in doing it. Are we just wired to be lazy and we act so inadvertently. Or is it a mental block that we sometimes set up for ourselves so we don’t have to deal with the consequences. Kind of like the kid who never swings the bat in little league because he’s too scared to strike out. Or can the argument be made that if we do need a push to do things, we don’t really want to do them in the first place? I don’t know but I would love to see what you guys think.

That’s all for this post, a week from today I’ll be doing a book review on catch-22 and I think you guys will really like it (: I hope you enjoyed this little thing and I hope you have a great week!

  1. This sounds really funny. And to continue that last point, I think it’s safe to say that pretty much everyone deals with motivation problems, and yet I feel it’s worst with things we are truly passionate about, not because we have less motivation necessarily, but because the desire to do those things should outweigh the lack of motivation we have. It’s odd, to say the least.

  2. This Book has great title, I have heard the name before but I have never read the book or heard what the book was about. From you discerption of the book it sounds very good and interesting.I like books that have a deeper meaning and when you have to read between the lines to get that deeper meaning. I would definitely give this book a try and look forward to the full book review.
